Why Computers were Invented (First Post)

Did you know that computers were made to count the population of USA? Apparently, the US population had increased so much, it took as long as 7 years to count the population! It's crazy that the most useful and all-purpose machine was created just for counting people!

I found out about it in a 6th Grader's computer book. Why did I never know about this before!?
